Elmet and Rothwell selection

On March 16 I announced my decision to seek selection as the Labour Party’s candidate for Elmet and Rothwell in the 2015 general election. I decided to seek selection after being asked to stand by Labour Party members and councillors throughout the Elmet and Rothwell constituency.

As a Labour Party campaigner and councillor I’ve blogged about local issues since 2005. During the selection process I’m going to continue using the blog  and Twitter (I joined in 2007, long before most people) to campaign against the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats as it’s essential we don’t let our internal election distract us from the real job of getting rid of Tory Alec Shelbrooke MP.

I’m also going to use it and my Facebook page Karen for Elmet and Rothwell to keep in touch with local members and let them know who else is supporting and endorsing me. Because I’ve been an active campaigner in the constituency for the last 20 years and have been campaigning online since 2005 there are obviously a lot of photos of me campaigning and working alongside local Labour Party members. To avoid confusion (and stop anyone thinking that everyone I’ve ever campaigned with is already publicly supporting me) I’ve set up a new category on the blog where I’ll be publishing endorsements. That way it is crystal clear to everyone and I don’t have to behave unethically by censoring anything.

Please let me know what you think
