The first Rothwell scarecrow festival appears to have been a great success. It was great fun to go round all the scarecrows and chat with traders on Friday and Saturday, many delighted shoppers were out to do their own tour of the scarecrow festival taking pics and having loads of fun, especially the children. The hard work of the creative traders has paid off and it’s evident to see from the photos that there were a wide variety of different interpretations on the ‘scarecrow’ including a lion eating Harry from One Direction, from Rothwell Pets and Reptiles, which attracted squeals of delight from lots of people, my daughter Esme especially loved the animal ones including RSPCA and Purple Vet and this one of course!
Well done to Elaine Taylor of Glamorous Gifts for organising the event, I know from chatting to her that she is already thinking of ideas for next year to make it even better, we discussed a few options. Talking to traders, and seeing the shoppers, the Scarecrow Festival appears to have brought people into town and down Commercial Street in Rothwell in their droves for the past three days. We have some great shops in Rothwell and this has provided a show case to remind some people to support our town centre in a really fun way!
